Ade from Optics Warehouse has seen Thermal technology become more advanced and affordable over time. Below, Ade briefly explains why Thermal technology is a must-have for any Shooter.

...

Over the last few years, we have seen Thermal technology vastly improve and dramatically drop in price.

With units now starting at under £500, like the HIK Micro 6mm Smart Thermal Monocular, Thermal technology is now available and affordable for all Shooters.

There really has not been a better time to buy from brands such as HIK Micro, Pulsar, ATN, and so on.

Of course, like anything, the performance and capability go hand-in-hand with the price, and even today as good a value as they are, the average jump in model price is around £300-£500.

These price increases see an improvement in features such as identification range, focus ability, image quality, along with other hardware improvements.

So, why have one?

1. Safety

A Thermal can detect and identify, within reason, sources of heat that Night Vision simply can't e.g. Deer, Fox, Boar, Trespassers etc.

Using Thermal technology allows for clearer identification of your target prior to letting any rounds off.

2. Covertness

Unlike Night Vision technology, Thermal requires no assistance with illumination i.e. no torches, and less equipment.

3. Versatility

Being digital Thermal can be used effectively during Daylight, as well as Night time.

Thermals have proven very effective at tracking fresh blood trails in Woodlands where prey might have disappeared into cover before dropping.

In short, Thermal Spotters/Monoculars have now taken over from Digital Night Vision in the Monocular market and are a proven vital part of equipment for any Shooter.
